AVENGERS: Infinity War is sitting top of the box office, with diehard fans raving about the latest superhero venture from Marvel.

But devotees of the comic book heroes needn’t have waited until last week to find out what happens, with the film’s star Mark Ruffalo accidentally revealing a major plot spoiler last year.

During a joint interview with Don Cheadle at Disney’s 2017 D23 Expo in July 2017, Ruffalo spilled that not all ends well for the superheroes in the new Avengers movie.

Ruffalo, who plays The Incredible Hulk, was being quizzed on what happens next for the Marvel characters when he decided to reveal how Infinity War ends.

“I can’t say — can I say?” Mark asks, turning to his co-star Cheadle, who plays War Machine in the Avengers franchise.

“No!” Cheadle shoots back, giving Ruffalo a warning look.

“Can I just give them a little taste?” Mark asks again, causing Cheadle to raise his hands in exasperation.

“I wouldn’t say too much because — you can say as much as you [want], hey it’s your career,” Cheadle replies.

Then, Ruffalo drops a major spoiler.

”Let me just say this — like every other Marvel movie, it doesn’t end well for the superheroes ... wait til you see this next one, everybody dies,” he reveals.

“Dude!” Cheadle exclaims in exasperation, as it suddenly dawns on Ruffalo that he has said too much.

“Can we rewind that part?” Ruffalo stammers. “That’s not ... am I in trouble?”

“A little ... dude I don’t know, I’d just move on, I wouldn’t try to focus on it,” Cheadle replies.

Covering his face in his hands Ruffalo tries to move on, asking: “Next question!”

As those who have seen Infinity War already know, Ruffalo’s prediction that “it doesn’t end well” for the superheroes was indeed correct.

The movie ends with half the Marvel cast stranded on different planets, while the other half are obliterated by Thanos’ evil plan.

Fortunately for Ruffalo, the major plot spoiler doesn’t appear to have been picked up by fans until this week, when footage of the interview began circulating on the internet.
