Powerpc El Capitan
SheepShaver is a PowerPC (PPC) emulator which allows you to run Mac OS 7.5 up to Mac OS 9.0.4 on various platforms, such as on Windows. SheepShaver started as a commercial project in 1998 but is now open source since 2002.
To get the latest features and maintain the security, stability, compatibility, and performance of your Mac, it's important to keep your software up to date. Apple recommends that you always use the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac.
- I do have and actually like powerPC. I have an old ibook 14' Just has too old a flash for me to use for some things but it is quite fast considering it's age. Has 10.5 but runs bit faster on 10.4. Also recently bought a 17' MBP of 2007 vintage which is also running el capitan and quite nippy unit.

During 2003's WWDC keynote address, Jobs unveiled a Power Mac that features a processor from IBM's PowerPC G5 product line. At the time, the Power Mac G5 was the first personal computer to feature a 64-bit processor.
- Although that paled in comparison to El Capitan's user share (42.6% of all Macs) or even Mavericks (11.7%), it was larger than for successors like 2011's Lion (4%) and 2012's Mountain Lion (4%.
- And yet there are apps written for OS X Leopard that won’t run in OS X El Capitan just seven years later. Snow Leopard was also the last version of OS X to support PowerPC processors.

Check compatibility
If a macOS installer can't be used on your Mac, the installer will let you know. For example, it might say that your Mac doesn't have enough free storage space for the installation, or that the installer is too old to be opened on this version of macOS.
If you want to check compatibility before downloading the installer, learn about the minimum requirements for macOS Catalina, Mojave, High Sierra, Sierra, El Capitan, or Yosemite. You can also check compatible operating systems on the product-ID page for MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, MacBook, iMac, Mac mini, or Mac Pro.
Make a backup

Download macOS
It takes time to download and install macOS, so make sure that you're plugged into AC power and have a reliable internet connection.
These installers from the App Store open automatically after you download them:
- macOS Catalina 10.15 can upgrade Mojave, High Sierra, Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks
- macOS Mojave 10.14 can upgrade High Sierra, Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion
- macOS High Sierra 10.13 can upgrade Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion
Your web browser downloads the following older installers as a disk image named InstallOS.dmg or InstallMacOSX.dmg. Open the disk image, then open the .pkg installer inside the disk image. It installs an app named Install [Version Name]. Open that app from your Applications folder to begin installing the operating system.
- macOS Sierra 10.12 can upgrade El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion
- OS X El Capitan 10.11 can upgrade Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard
- OS X Yosemite 10.10can upgrade Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard
Install macOS
Follow the onscreen instructions in the installer. It might be easiest to begin installation in the evening so that it can complete overnight, if needed.
If the installer asks for permission to install a helper tool, enter the administrator name and password that you use to log in to your Mac, then click Add Helper.
Please allow installation to complete without putting your Mac to sleep or closing its lid. Your Mac might restart, show a progress bar, or show a blank screen several times as it installs both macOS and related updates to your Mac firmware.

You might also be able to use macOS Recovery to reinstall the macOS you're using now, upgrade to the latest compatible macOS, or install the macOS that came with your Mac.
First, you cannot use PowerPC apps because they are written for a non-Intel platform. I have no idea what is causing your problem, but I would suggest you start by rebooting the computer. See what happens. If at all possible be sure you have a backup of your files should you have to erase the disk and reinstall El Capitan.
I suggest when you reboot the computer that you boot into Safe Mode.

- If your Mac isn’t already shut down, then shut it down and wait at least 30 seconds before rebooting.
- Immediately, at or before the chime, press and hold down the SHIFT key.
- Release the key after the Apple logo and progress bar appear.
- Safe mode startup is much slower than normal startup, so be patient.
- When the Login Screen appears enter your admin password. If you use automatic login, then this means you are in safe mode.
