Openshot Daily Build

Posted on  by

OpenShot has incredible potential but there is serious work ahead. I will happily beta test an interim 2.6 and provide whatever assistance I can in building 3.0. Cheers, Andrew Bullen B.Bus. 15th May 2020 – Urgent Update – Daily Build Details – 50 Basic Flaws – Reviews – Donations. Two recent discoveries are causes for alarm: 1. Here we have a little look round OpenShot and see if it any good for video editing for more than beginners.Well it turns out it isn't to bad but you may want.

OpenShot has been designed specifically with animation in mind. The powerful curve-based animation framework canhandle most jobs with ease, and is flexible enough to create just about any animation. Key frames specifyvalues at certain points on a clip, and OpenShot does the hard work of interpolating the in-between values.

Overview¶

#

Name

Description

1

Green Property

When the play-head is on a key frame, the property appears green

1

Blue Property

When the play-head is on an interpolated value, the property appears blue

2

Value Slider

Click and drag your mouse to adjust the value (this automatically creates a key frame if needed)

3

Play-head

Position the play-head over a clip where you need a key frame

4

Key frame Markers

Small green tick marks are drawn at all key frame positions (on a clip)

Key Frames¶

To create a key frame in OpenShot, simply position the play-head (i.e. playback position) at any point over a clip, and edit properties in the property dialog. If the property supports key frames, it will turn green, and a small greentick mark will appear on your clip at that position. Move your play-head to another point over that clip, and adjustthe properties again. All animations require at least 2 key frames, but can support an unlimited number of them.

To adjust the interpolation mode, right click on the small graph icon next to a property value.

Name

Description

Bézier

Interpolated values use a quadratic curve, and ease-in and ease-out

Linear

Interpolated values are calculated linear (each step value is equal)

Constant

Interpolated values stay the same until the next key frame, and jump to the new value

For more info on clip properties, see Properties. For more info on preset animations, see Preset Menu. For more info on creating key frames for location and scale, see Transform.

Bézier Presets¶

When using a Bézier curve for animation, OpenShot includes more than 20 curve presets (which affect the shapeof the curve). For example, Ease-In has a more gradual slope at the beginning, making an animation move slower atthe beginning, and faster at the end. Ease-In/Out (Back) has a gradual beginning and ending, but actually goes pastthe expected value and then back (producing a bounce effect).

To choose a curve preset, right click on the small graph icon next to a key frame.

Image Sequences¶

If you have a sequence of similarly named images (such as, cat001.png, cat002.png, cat003.png, etc…), you can simplydrag and drop one of them into OpenShot, and you will be prompted to import the entire sequence.

To adjust the frame rate of the animation, right click and choose File Properties in the Project Files panel, and adjust the frame rate. Once you have set the correct frame rate, drag the animation onto the timeline.

Have you found an issue with OpenShot? Please help improve OpenShot by sharing this discovery with the developers and community! This page will help you build a high-quality and accurate bug report to be published on our GitHub issues page. Let's get started!

Error:
If you are having issues finding your log files, or if the log files are not yet created, you can also submit a bug report directly on GitHub.

Step 1: Delete your OpenShot log files

Since log files can become quite large in size, let's start off by deleting your current OpenShot log files. The files can be found at the following file paths. The folder /.openshot_qt/ might be hidden and require viewing hidden files.

/home/USER/.openshot_qt/openshot-qt.log
/home/USER/.openshot_qt/libopenshot.log
/Users/USER/.openshot_qt/openshot-qt.log
/Users/USER/.openshot_qt/libopenshot.log

C:/Users/USER/.openshot_qt/libopenshot.log
C:/Users/USER/.openshot_qt/openshot-qt.log
C:/Users/USER/.openshot_qt/libopenshot.log

Step 2: Verify the bug with the latest version of OpenShot

Please download and install the latest daily build of OpenShot, and verify your issue/bug still occurs. Often, many users will continue to report the same issue after we have fixed it (because the fix only exists in our daily builds).

Also, please enable Debug Mode (Verbose) in the OpenShot Preferences before you verify your issue. Debug Mode will produce more detailed log files, however it will cause OpenShot to run much slower. So be sure to disable this option next time you use OpenShot.

Sorry, it appears we are having issues communicating with GitHub right now. Please visit GitHub.com to submit a bug report.

Step 3: Search for duplicate issues on GitHub

Did you successfully verify the bug still exists in the latest daily build of OpenShot? If so, we need to verify this issue is not a duplicate before continuing. Use the search box to describe the issue in a few words, and click on any potential matches to view.

Step 4: Upload your new log files

Let's take a closer look at your system and log files. Please upload your OpenShot log files now. These logs contain useful information about the crash and your system. The folder /.openshot_qt/ might be hidden and require viewing hidden files.

Step 5: Add details to your report
